About the Library

Background

Malawi Defence Force Command and Staff College (MDFCSC) library and resource center was established in 2021 along with the establishment of the college and serves as an information hub for student officers.

MDFCSC library embraces a hybrid collection comprising print and electronic resources.

Print Collection

The print collection includes books, magazines, journals, reference sources (dictionaries, maps, etc.).

Electronic Resources

Through MALICO consortium, access to 30+ international databases of full text electronic information resources, including e-books and e-journals.

Library Services

KOHA Library Management System

The library is automated and uses KOHA, an integrated Library Management System that manages technical aspects of book processing, creates records of all available books, and provides a user interface for the electronic library.

Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC)

The library's e-resources and OPAC collectively make up MDFCSC's electronic library, allowing users to search the collection and access digital materials from anywhere.
