The college is founded on the following objectives to ensure comprehensive professional military education:
Develop professional knowledge for command and staff roles at tactical and operational levels in respective Services and Joint Headquarters during peace and war.
Provide Professional Military Education (PME) and improve academic qualifications to enhance professionalism and leadership skills.
Develop understanding of Malawi, Africa and global contemporary security issues through research and analysis.
Foster critical and independent thought for sound decision-making.
Develop understanding of world affairs and their impact on Malawi.
